I have been a very busy girl. I just finished an Americana scrapbook and photo album. I go to put everything together and the binder inside the chipboard album that I used to make this scrapbook won't stay closed. I just pops open and all the pages fall out. Nothing like finishing something and then at the end find out it doesn't work the way it should. Talk about disappointing. So I ordered another album and I am hoping that it works. Although I have gotten the consensus that these albums do this all the time. Well that's just great! My back-up plan is to cut the front and back off off this and then use those binder rings to make a book out of it. I hope it looks good. But I am really hoping the other album will be just fine. But I'll post a few pictures of it here. Americana is not my kind of things to make normally. But I like how this album turned out. It would make a great 4th of July scrapbook if you do a celebrating on that holiday.

So my brain is mush now in terms of creativity so I am going to take a couple of days off and not do anything scrapbook or card related. Hopefully I don't go through withdrawals or something. :lol

A wintery day in April--I want Spring to stay

So it was 80 degrees here on Tuesday. I did some yard work. The kids played outside. It was a wonderful spring day. Today, 2 days later, it was spitting snow this morning. I want Spring to stay for awhile. This weekend it will be back up in the 70's so I can't wait.

This Saturday I am going to a baby shower for a friend of mine. I made her a card and wanted to share it here. I used a card map from Page Maps for the design. They are celebrating there 2nd anniversary by having contest. So check it out, it looks like lots of fun! But back to the card. I found these really cute stamps by Stampendous. The one I used on this card is call "Sweet Dress". I outlined the sweater on it (after I colored it in) with a glue pen. Then I sprinkled some pink flocking on it. It gives it a soft and fuzzy look, like something a little baby would wear. I used liquid applique for the buttons. I didn't heat the liquid applique though, because I didn't want puffy buttons.

Happy Monday

Today was a great day! The sun was shining. The wind wasn't howling 5o mph. Spring felt like it was finally here. So last night I submitted a card for the Caardvarks micro challenge tree theme. I had this tree that I had made with some really cool embossing powders from Pipe Dream Ink. I made this tree a year ago and just kept it thinking that it may make a cool card someday. And then this micro challenge came up. I thought this is the time to use that tree. And so I did. The card turned out great and thought it would make a good Father's Day card because it has a nice masculine feel to it. Anyway, there are some really awesome tree cards in the Caardvarks gallery so check them out.

The complexity of some cards--Whew!!

Well I finished up a Mother's Day Card that I submitted into the Caardvarks Flight of Fancy Challenge. I normally am a simple card maker. This card took me close to 3 hours to do. I had to cut a bunch of flowers and bugs. My hand is cramping up just thinking about it. But it turned out well and I am planning on giving it to my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day. She loves the nature stuff so I thought she would like this card.

Has anyone heard of Card Candy?? There is a challenge over on Embellish-It that is about Card Candy. They are little homemade embellishments that you package up (just like a package you would buy at the store-only cuter) and give them away as gifts. I've seen some SU demos do this before when they do a workshop. It's their little freebie they give out to everyone. Of course they are using the SU products when making them. But what a cool idea. Anyway, Michelle, who is doing this challenge, extended the deadline for it. I'm swamped, but maybe I'll get a chance to make some for fun.

Anyway, if you've seen any links for Card Candy please post them here so I can take a look and see more examples of what people do.

It's Monday

Well I went to a Wiggles Show on Sunday with my hubby and the kiddos. I have to say that they put on a great show. The kids had a great time and were dancing and singing along. Garrett even got to "high-5" Anthony which was so cool. I finished up my little purse album called "Cowgirl Up" and listed it at my Etsy store. I think it turn out really cute. I'll post a picture here but you can see more of it in the PhotoBucket link. I am busily working on a big order of cards and invites and even a scrapbook album. Once everything is picked out then it shouldn't take me too long to get everything done. I have until May which seems like it is fast approaching (probably because I need to get this order done). Oh the pressure--I Love It!!

Check out the new Caardvarks Challenge, Flight of Fancy, on their blog http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/. It looks awesome and I have a couple of things in mind for it. The design team made some really inspiring examples to get the creative juices flowing.

Having a fun day so far

Well today I posted my card for the Cocoa Blossom Inspiration Challenge by Suzy at Embellish-it Scrapbooking www.embellish-online.com/forum. This was a really fun challenge. I love working with browns and earthy types colors. I haven't done much with glitter and chipboard before so I think it turned out pretty well. Glitter is tricky, I have to tell you, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it stick better to the chip board, please drop me a note.
Another upload I am going to do is one for thethe Scrap to Remember challenge at www.ittybittyscrapshack.com (IBSS). This challenge is going to benefit the www.FirstCandle.org which helps support parents that have lost a child due to SIDS or an unexpected death. If you go to IBSS's blog page you will find the link to donate to this organization and if you can make two 8 1/2 by 11 scrapbook layouts and send them to Tiffany (she runs IBSS) and she will send them to the organization. It's a really great cause so if you can participate then please do.

Anyway here are the pages I have made so far for the
m.

Well I'm off to do another challenge. Thanks for visiting.

Well I finally have a blog...

...after reading and viewing hundreds and hundreds of blogs. I love looking at everyone's blogs out there. There are so many talented people out there and I have gotten so many ideas and inspirations from looking at them. Anyway, after doing some contests and challenges, they always want your blog or "post your picture on your blog." So this is a big step for me. I probably won't post every day but hopefully it will become something that is easier to do for me.

Anyway, my passion right now is card making. I just love making cards! I am trying to scrapbook more and more and it is becoming an easier thing for me to do. I guess I am just overwhelmed with all the pictures I have to do something with. I also love altering all those plain chipboard albums that are out there. I really like the purses that you can alter and am having fun creating fun things with them.

Well I hope you enjoy whatever I put on here. If you have a blog send me the link so I can check it out.
