Monday, Monday...

Well I finished up the invites for my friend's son's birthday party. They turned out pretty cute. If I had more time I would of found cuter papers and embellishments to make an even cuter invite. But the party is this Friday. I noticed that I will do everything on the computer when I am limited by time. So everything on the Elmo invite was create on the computer. The fish bowl outline was made on the computer but I did end up cutting it out and made a mini-shaker out of it. I added a piece of ribbon too.

This card I made for a couple of challenges. The first was the Think Pink! challenge on Caardvarks. I am not a "pinky person" person to say. But I had to try out the KI Memories lace cardstock that I got a while back. I also has a lot of fun making the little 3-D butterfly with my "shared" Cricut. The other challenge was for the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #22. This was such a fun challenge and it is hard to see on my card but it looks like there is an awning on the top of the card.

Rooaaarr!!

My daughter is absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs. She had a T-Rex named "Rexy" and a Velociraptor named "Sweet Pea". The two most vicious dinosaurs to walk the Earth are named Rexy and Sweet Pea. She has little dinosaurs that she takes into the tub at bathtime, dinosaurs that growl, plush dinosaurs, and even a few dinosaur skeletons. And what do you think she is going to get for her birthday? That's right --a tea set--and the T-Rex Mega Mountain dinosaur set. I'm not kidding about the tea set. That's about the only girly thing she likes to do. Of course her brother likes to play tea time too and they manage to get in fight over hot tea versus cold tea. Ugh!

So I made her invites of course. I used 4 of my CuttleBug embossing folders to make the rocks, the ground, and the texture on the dinosaur. I made the dinosaur with a CuttleKids diecut and used the very wonderful Archaic line papers, chipboard stickers, and rub ons from Basic Grey. I can't wait to take some pictures of her party and scrap them using these papers.

Today I am helping a friend make her birthday invites for her soon to be 1-year-old son. They are Elmo with a little shaker fishbowl on it . I'll post those when they are finished.

So I am still on a cupcake mission. I want to see how many challenges I can do with my Basic Grey Cupcake paper and accessories and my Stampendous Hey There Cupcake Stamps. So far so good. This is the latest one I did. It was for the Monday Mojo #42 challenge on Poetic Artistry blog done by Julee. She also has a new stamp company called Verve Visual which has some absolutely gorgeous stamps that I am going to have to buy. Anyway this card is more of an adult card rather than a children's birthday card like I have been making lately. Stll just as fun though. It was not as challenging as I thought to cut the paper as it was lining it up onto the card. Frustrating!! The black sugarcoated brads I ended up cutting the tips off and just sticking them on the paper with glue dots. I hate having the backs of brads show through the other side of my cards. I don't know, I'm weird or anal or something. But what a fun challenge and I'll be back for more.

More fun Birthday cards

Just wanted to post this one. I used a sketch from Sketches by Tamara. Card sketch #48 to be more precise. She has new card sketches posted every Thursday, Layout Sketches on Monday, and Sketches!-Guest Designer every Saturday. You'll have to check out her blog. I love the new layout sketch she just posted. I may have to try that out.

Manly Cards

This is a card I made for the Caardvarks "Dude Micro Challenge" which is due tonight at midnight. I actually went out into the "sacred man area" called the garage and rummaged through the forbidden zone. Like my husband cares if I'm in his stuff :lol! I found a bunch of washers, bolts, screws, and some round gold thing (that I have no idea what it is) that was in the stash of things he has out there. Probably couldn't send this through the mail unless you used a padded envelope or something.

Super fun challenge and I'm glad I had a chance to do it.

Birthday season is coming...

Well at least for me anyway. I have a bunch of 5 year old cards to make plus a 3 year old card for my daughter and a 1 year old card for my friend's son. All are coming up fast. Which reminds me that I need to think about invitations for Cady's birthday party. Yikes! I need to start on those soon. So here are some cards I've made so far. I even have a 4 year old card that I made by mistake (I meant to have a 5 on it). But that's okay. Somebody will turn 4 eventually.

This card I made using Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #20. I found this blog the other day and it looks like a fun place to visit. I thought my BG Cupcake paper would work well for this Challenge and my Stampendous "Hey There Cupcake" clear stamps. I made the frosting with Liquid Applique sprinkled with some Doodlebug Sugar Coating Glitter. Then I stickled the 5's (which was made with a Cuttlebug embossing folder) since it is a 5th birthday card.

**I just noticed the Stickle Smear. That is one thing that frustrates me about them. Or maybe it's just me and my impatience to let the darn card dry for longer than a minute before I touch it.

These two I just had lots of fun using my (and Heidi's) Cricut.

It's Partini Time

Well okay it's not Friday yet, but it will be tomorrow. This was a fun card I made for the Caardvarks Drink Up! challenge. I have to say the microbeads are a pain in the a**. They just stick to anything and everything. But it turned out okay. I have to say I am lovin' this Cricut that my wonderful friend Heidi has let me share with her. I just ordered some more cartridges for it so I am looking forward to playing with it some more.

This is the card I made for the kiddos to give to Daddy for Father's Day. I still have no idea what we are going to give him this year (other than this card). I know the kids want to draw some pictures for him and maybe we'll do a Father's Day brunch, or something like that. I made this card also for the CPS #68 card challenge.

Tonight we finally get to see Spamalot! I bought tickets for my husband at Christmas. He is a huge Monty Python fan. So I hope it is an awesome show.

Well I was up early this morning and now it is time to get the kids up. Today we have our second swimming lesson. Monday's lesson went really well and both kids seemed to have a lot of fun. So we'll see how this morning goes. So I have been scrapbooking for almost a week now. Finally! I feel inspired to scrapbook again. It is a nice change a pace from making cards. I am not on any deadline to get things done so it has been very relaxing and fun. I also had the opportunity to borrow my friend Heidi's Cricut. It had been in the box for at least a year so I said let me play around with it and then I'll teach you how to use it. All the lettering below, as well as some of the shapes, were made on her Cricut. I think I may need to break down and get one.

So here are some of the layout's I've done. Enjoy!

This one was a lot of fun to make. My inspiration was from a children's clothing catalog I get called Chasing Fireflies. Cute stuff but really $$$. They had a t-shirt that had the genius equation on it. I thought it would be perfect for these pictures of Cady playing doctor.
